Imagine 2007
Title : Imagine (Chrismas Cake 2007)
Concept :
今回は、Johnlennonのイマジンをテーマにケーキを作りました。
ケーキを横にして二つ繋ぎ車輪のようにする事で上下をなくし、天国も地獄もないことを形で表しています。
直径１２ｃｍのスポンジケーキを２つ焼き、これをポッキーでつないでいます。
天国と地獄をなくすことはキリスト教に反する考なのでクリスマスケーキとしては相応しくありませんが、黙っていれば分かりません。
味の方は構造上スポンジケーキの間にフルーツを入れることができず、半分に切った面に生クリームのみをはさんでいますので少し物足りないかと思われますが、コンセプトでかんべんしてもらいましょう。
２００３年の事ですが、デンマークのオーフォスと言う町で展覧会があり、この時、私はイスラエルとパレスティナを扱った作品を出品しました。
展覧会準備の為にラマラへ行くつもりだった私は、テルアビブ行きのフライトをとっていました。
しかし出国寸前に不穏な状況になっていたバクダットのためにテルアビブ行きフライトのキャンセルを、よぎなくされました。
ところが、アムステルダムへ立ち寄った私が見たものは、反戦プラカードを持って、ダム広場に集まった多くの人達でした。
トレーラーやトラックが広場に乗りつけられ、即席荷台からロックが流れ始めました。
個人で思いおもいの工夫をこらして参加している若者を、たくさん見かけました。
イマジンが響きはじめると、皆が歌い始めました。
私は、涙がこみあげてきました。
すぐ旅行社に電話を入れ、テルアビブ行きのフライトを探しました。
テルアビブへ着いたのは、バグダット空爆開始の３日後でした。
今回は、ダム広場で聞いたイマジンをケーキにしてみました。 12/24, 2007 ウエダリクオ
This time, I created a cake themed around John Lennon’s Imagine.
By connecting two cakes sideways like a wheel, I eliminated the top and bottom, symbolizing the absence of heaven and hell.
I baked two 12cm-diameter sponge cakes and connected them with Pocky sticks.
Eliminating heaven and hell is un christian and therefore inappropriate for a Christmas cake, but you wouldn’t know it if I didn’t say anything.
As for the taste, due to the cake’s structure, I couldn’t put fruit between the two halves, so I sandwiched only whipped cream between the two. This may be a little lacking, but I’ll forgive the concept. In 2003, I exhibited works depicting Israel and Palestine at an exhibition in the town of Århus, Denmark.
I had booked a flight to Tel Aviv, intending to travel to Ramallah to prepare for the exhibition. However, just before I left, I was forced to cancel my flight due to the unrest in Baghdad.
However, when I stopped off in Amsterdam, I saw many people gathering in Dam Square, holding anti-war placards.
Trailers and trucks pulled up to the square, and rock music began to play from their impro vised loading platforms.
I saw many young people who had participated individually, using their own unique ideas.
When Imagine began to play, everyone began to sing along.
Tears welled up in my eyes.
I immediately called a travel agency and looked for a flight to Tel Aviv. I arrived in Tel Aviv three days after the start of the Baghdad airstrikes.
This time, I tried making a cake to the song Imagine that I heard in Dam Square.
